About Us

At Bravo! Reading, we’re on a mission to help your child become a “Reading Shark”! Bravo! Reading gives your child fun, predictable, brain based, multi-sensory, Orton-Gillingham based, kid-tested and parent-approved activities for reading success. These exercises were designed for kids with dyslexia, but they work for anyone!

Bravo Reading helps kids with dyslexia reach reading success.

Bravo! Reading helps your child become a Reading Shark through a series of research-based activities that make decoding easy and fun. By using innovative large motor movements, visual and auditory cues, and techniques that resonate with your child, reading scores soar and your child can shout from the nearest rooftop, “I’m a Reading Shark”!

When words can be decoded without struggle, then reading fluency and comprehension scores naturally rise.

Once your child can sound out words with ease, a whole new world opens up. Grades soar. Tests are passed with ease, and confidence mounts. School is no longer a frightful place, because the most important subject of all – reading – is mastered.

If your child guesses at words, has below reading level scores, is failing school, hates to read, fears reading out loud in front of others, or is struggling to learn letter sounds, Bravo! Reading will transform them into a true Reading Shark!

Reading sharks don’t hesitate when it’s time to read. They jump right in and decode words, sentences, and paragraphs with confidence and self-assurance. Fluency is easy, as words are decoded effortlessly and automatically. Comprehension scores are high because reading is a snap!

If your child stammers and stutters while reading, hates to read, or has been diagnosed with dyslexia, it’s time for the Bravo! Reading Shark Transformation!

Lisa began teaching in 1983, often puzzling as to why some kids learned to read so easily while others struggled. “I knew there had to be a way to teach these kids to read, to give them digestible reading skills. Phonics sheets and repetition didn’t work for all kids. At the time, we only had traditional methods to help children who struggled to read.”

“But years later…absolutely nothing could have prepared me for having a child of my own who struggled to read!”

Lisa went on a “mother mission” to help her son, Nathan read, (see Nathan’s Story) By using new, innovative, research-based techniques that the schools failed to give him, her son became an honor student within a year. By the time Nathan was in the seventh grade, he was reading at a tenth-grade level!

“Our average reading jump is five levels through the course of the program,” Lisa explains. “That’s because we don’t use mainstream activities that don’t simply work for the dyslexic reader.”
